Today was one of the more challenging ones we’ve had here at the Evans’ homestead. I think Selah June is getting molars in and/or fighting a cold. She has been super testy lately. More than anything, she is being super moody and super picky. Tonight, just for example, she didn’t want me to sit on the bed (on my side in the same place I always sit). She didn’t want to wear clothes – any clothes including ones she picked out. She didn’t want me to touch her. And she only wanted Daddy to carry her downstairs – “NOT YOU!”
But there were some hysterical moments between all the gnashing of teeth ones.
When Jingle Bell Rock came on, she got super excited and started singing Jingle Bells. (That is not a good mash-up, by the way.) When Jeremy did carry her down the stairs even though his foot was hurting and she knew it, she said, “You’re a big boy!” And when I followed him into her room to give her kisses, she said “good night, guys.” Somehow I never imagined having a 2-year-old who would say that. Not in my wildest dreams. I should listen to myself speak more I suppose. I say “bye, guys” all the time. But it’s a hoot when it comes right back from the mouth of babes.
Here’s day 2 of working on our Shopkins gingerbread house.
