A Hard Day

Monday, March 6, 2017

Selah june spent the afternoon with Satie and Sebastian, and then we joined her for dinner at Jessica’s with Dan. Mom and Dad also came over. It was really nice, but it was also really sad. Dan is facing a major turning point.

Today was just a blur. I couldn’t focus. I stood people up. And I felt so lost. It’s been a long time since I felt that way. Jessica was really there for me, saying the helpful things and being willing to just relate and listen.

When things don’t make sense, it’s nice to have a 2 year old to remind you to smile.

The Pokey Little Puppy

Wednesday March 1, 2017

Steve and Cindy sent Miss Selah June a box in the mail. It was a whole set of Little Golden Books. Steve thought that she particularly needed a copy of The Pokey Little Puppy. That was the first book she wanted to read. Every time we came to the little puppies counting “one, two, three, four…. Now where is that pokey little puppy?” she would just laugh and laugh. She loves it. And she loves the illustrations. I noticed that books written for kids now have far fewer words per page and have far more visual stuff going on. It was nice to go a slow pace on each page and to enjoy the story for the story rather than the pictures.

Our Own Little Diva

Sunday February 26, 2017

Th Oscars were on tonight, and Selah June was captivated by the young girl who sang the Muana song. She’s really been singing a lot lately. It’s so awesome. She won’t let anybody else sing, but she doesn’t mind having an audience.
